Make Money Online As A Virtual Juror

The Internet creates many opportunities to work and make money from home.  Here are some more options for using your home office for work, not as an extra storage room!  Some of these work at home ideas we’ve blogged about in the past but add options in this post.  Remember to always do your research on these and avoid work from home scams.

Get Paid as a Mock Juror

Mock or virtual jurors participate in case reviews and provide lawyers with opinions on pending cases.  eJury “will issue payment … in exchange for participation in review of cases, answering of questions, and providing of comments.”  More information here.

A second option becoming an OnlineVerdict.com juror.  Review interesting legal cases at home, answer online questionnaires, and earn some money for your time.  Payments vary depending the complexity and length of the case, with payments starting at $20 per case up to $60 per case!  Get more information.

Try becoming a surrogate juror.  As a surrogate juror, help resolve actual legal cases in your community for ONE DAY’S WORK if you are randomly selected.  “Act as an arbitrator in complex criminal or civil cases by listening to attorneys present their cases.”  Read more here.

These jobs will require oaths of privacy and limit the number of cases people can do in a given day or week.  But this is a great way to enjoy an intellectual challenge while making money from home!

Homepreneurs DMCA Violation – An Update

Recently we published an article about digital copyright violations.  A subsequent post noted that Homepreneurs was a victim of repeated copyright infringement.  An official DMCA complaint form was filed with the website hosting company and followed up with information requested by the host.  We are pleased to state that the offending writer’s web pages were removed by the website hosting within a week of filing the complaint.

This is the text sent to Homepreneurs email from the legal department of the website hosting company:

Thank you for contacting the Legal Department.

We have contacted the owner and we have removed the offending website pending removal of your material.

Please feel free to contact us again if we can be of further assistance.

The website was checked for several days in a row with no recurrence of violations.  We will continue to monitor on occasion to ensure that copyrighted material is not used by others for gain or profit.

The point here had nothing to do with money – Homepreneurs makes no money whatsoever.  A simple principal was at stake: my copyrighted words were taken by someone else and used without permission.  A second goal was to show our readers that DMCA claims are easy to file and if legitimate, yield results.  Website hosting companies are bound by Federal law to investigate any official complaints submitted.  If violations are found, the host must notify the provider and if necessary, terminate the hosting contract.  Serious penalties may result if complaints are not investigated and followed up.

A win for the good guys this time!  If anyone feels their material is reprinted (digitally) without permission, feel free to email Homepreneurs (homepreneurs@gmail.com) and we’ll try to point you in the right direction.

Many people think that they should just leave accounting to the accountants. After all, you can always hire an accountant.

In fact, every person in business should know and understand accounting because it is the very language of business. Doing business without understanding accounting is like trying to fix your car without tools,  going to France without knowing French (and without a guidebook), or using a cell phone without a battery, or going to New Jersey without an automobile.

14 Blog Post Ideas That You Need

Blogs are an important way for customers to learn about your products and services.  Do you want to drive more traffic to your home business blog and write consistent, quality content?   Here are 14 ideas that make for a very successful blog.  These ideas will help drive traffic and increase your SEO and page rankings on search engines.

1)     Focus the blog niche – Choose a topic that is somewhat unique or is a sub-topic of a popular theme.  Stay on topic with your posts and don’t wander into the idea of the day.

2)     Reblog other blogs – Found a blog you really liked?  Reblog it for your readers.  They will appreciate the information you found.

3)     Choose subjects for each day of the week – Readers will specifically come back for a relevant topic.  Knowing which day that topic is the focus drives traffic

4)     Take notes – I have 2 ideas or more for blog topics every day.  I am guilty of not writing them down at the time.  Those good ideas are not quite as good hours or days later.  Keep a pen and paper handy and write ideas down at the time.

5)     Search research tools – Google has a great keyword tool that shows what people are really searching for, not what you think they are or should be searching.  Use these terms to build your SEO and keywords.

6)     Use Google analytics – look at keywords that are bringing people to your blog.   Google analytics has a lot of in-depth information for daily page visits, length of stay, and location.

7)     Communicate with your posters – one of my favorite things is ongoing communication with readers of Homepreneurs.  They challenge me to think, consider other ideas, and give me satisfaction for the work I do.  Win-win.

8)     Write for sub-niches – in the home business space, many subsets can be blogs by themselves; accounting, marketing, sales, business ideas.  Use sub-niches as ongoing topics for daily posts or create a new blog.

9)     Solicit guest posts – bloggers have writers block at times.  Build up a list of guest bloggers that can provide different ideas and topics on mind-block days.

10)  Compilation posts – use Google analytics to determine popular articles and make a compilation list of those articles.  Ditto for sub-niches, if you focus on that space.

11)  Compile other bloggers posts – if you want to be an expert in your field, you need help from others too.  Different opinions and different ideas, make a ready list to share.

12)  Explain jargon – do you use terms that make no sense to a person new to the industry?  Financial terms can be especially difficult for those just starting as entrepreneurs.  Write a post or series of explaining these terms.

13)  Competitions or contests – if you are selling a product like an eBook or similar.  Offer free eBooks to readers for submissions to your blog.  Just make sure to get releases for their material and give credit when needed.

14)  Think about opposites – Homepreneurs blogs about the good parts of starting a home business, but we’ve also discussed the negative side too.  Look at issues from opposing directions, giving your readers a chance to learn and decide.
